WHO AM I
Elizabeth Uphoff Courtney is a writer living in Southport, Connecticut. Born in Canada and raised in West Hartford, Connecticut, she is a graduate of Kent School and Dartmouth College. With a graduate degree in Public Health, Elizabeth spent most of her professional career in the nonprofit world mobilizing support for international reproductive health, private school education, and homelessness. Now she has turned her talents to fiction writing, featuring stories that explore the lives and loves of those in the preppy upper crust.
Elizabeth had a Modern Love essay, "A Life Shaken by an Old Love Letter," published in the New York Times on July 26, 2024.

Elizabeth attended the Yale Writers' Workshop in June 2024 and is currently a member of the Westport Writers' Workshop community.

LATIN CLUB is a novel about family secrets, forbidden love, and the lengths people go to to protect the ones they love. Set against the backdrop of a fictional private boarding school in 1980s Connecticut, LATIN CLUB is an emotional, sexy, and at times very amusing look at what happens behind the closed doors at America's most elite academic institutions. LATIN CLUB will be published by Woodhall Press in June, 2026.
LATIN CLUB: THE BEGINNING follows the lives and loves of best friends Jeremiah and Robert as they set off for the Ivy League in 1956. A coming of age tale focused on the challenges faced by Jeremiah, a young man coming to terms with his sexuality at a time when homosexuality was verboten, LATIN CLUB: THE BEGINNING is the prequel to LATIN CLUB.
